First printing 28th
May 1840, withdrawn November 1841. Plate 5 was much repaired over its
life time of use. The main outstanding feature is the bulging base line
under the "O" in the one, it is noticeable in the majority
of stamps, also the weak side lines more usually on the left hand side,.
in the repaired state these can not be seen. |

First printed 15th
June 1840 scraped 9th January 1841, a few of the stamps are spotted
like plate 4, but not to the same extent. The stamps of this plate are
quite hard to establish, however known varieties are easier to verify
as being from plate 6, later states in particular. |

First printed 26th
June 1840 scraped 9th January 1841. All stamps from AA to GF clearly
show the "O" flaw stage 2, to a lesser degree as all
stamps on row H do, the other stamps on these rows display a Stage 1 "O".
Overall the side frames are of a firmer appearance. Look out for stamps
printed on a thinner trial paper. |

First printed
3rd June 1840 scraped 8th September 1841, The "O"
flaw state 2 exists in most of the stamps AA to OJ , The
state 1 "O"flaw is virtually on every other stamp
of this plate. OK to TL. Many of the Impressions on this plate were
repaired. It is very interesting to note that from this Plate Printing
of both Red and Black exist, from the un-retouched original plate.
As do in the Highly sought after repaired states, good examples being
PG,RG,SE,SG,TG,TH. The repairs were executed by re-entry covering
up the "O"flaw of the original printings. Later a
second repair took place of this plate again copies are printed in
both Black and Red. A third repair was carried out in late 1841 which
only affected the final Red printings, many sought after stamps can
be found in the Stanley Gibbons GB specialized Q.V. catalogue.
